As Milo uncovers the secrets of Atlantis, he discovers a powerful crystal that sustains the city and its people. However, not all of the expedition members share his noble intentions. Rourke and some of the crew plot to steal the crystal and sell it for profit, putting the entire Atlantean civilization at risk. Milo must rally the Atlanteans and the remaining loyal crew members to stop Rourke and save the city.

Themes:

The movie explores themes of exploration, cultural respect, greed, and the balance between science and mysticism. It also examines the consequences of human ambition and the importance of preserving ancient knowledge and traditions.

Style and Legacy:

Atlantis stands out for its departure from the traditional Disney formula, opting for a darker, more mature tone. The film features stunning art inspired by comic book artist Mike Mignola and a unique visual style that combines hand-drawn animation with early computer-generated imagery (CGI).

Although it received mixed reviews upon release and underperformed at the box office, Atlantis has gained a cult following for its ambitious storytelling, diverse characters, and imaginative world-building. It is now appreciated as a bold and underrated entry in Disney’s animated canon.
