Plot Summary:

The story begins with a catastrophic nuclear explosion in New York City. A small group of survivors manages to take refuge in the basement of their apartment building, which has been designed as a fallout shelter by the building’s superintendent, Mickey. Among the survivors are Eva, her boyfriend Sam, and a mix of other tenants with clashing personalities.

As the group settles in, tensions rise. Mickey’s authoritarian nature clashes with the others, and paranoia sets in as supplies dwindle. The survivors face external threats when mysterious figures in hazmat suits breach the shelter, abducting one of them before being repelled.

Inside the shelter, the survivors’ fragile unity crumbles. Food and water shortages exacerbate their desperation, and unchecked power struggles lead to violence and madness. Sexual abuse, murder, and betrayal become commonplace, as some survivors descend into primal behavior while others struggle to maintain their humanity.

Eva emerges as the moral compass, resisting the chaos and brutality around her. As conditions deteriorate, she searches for a way out. The film builds to a grim conclusion, with Eva confronting the devastating consequences of survival and the loss of her companions.
