This season is set to feature a time jump to the fall of 1987, approximately six months after the events of Season 4, where portals from the Upside Down wreaked havoc in Hawkins. The narrative will focus on the characters’ efforts to defeat Vecna and bring closure to their individual story arcs.
The main cast returns, including Millie Bobby Brown (Eleven), Finn Wolfhard (Mike), Gaten Matarazzo (Dustin), Caleb McLaughlin (Lucas), Noah Schnapp (Will), Sadie Sink (Max), Natalia Dyer (Nancy), Charlie Heaton (Jonathan), Joe Keery (Steve), Maya Hawke (Robin), Winona Ryder (Joyce), and David Harbour (Hopper). Notably, Linda Hamilton joins the cast in an undisclosed role, and Amybeth McNulty, who appeared as Vickie in Season 4, has been promoted to a series regular.
Season 5 will consist of eight episodes, each with a runtime comparable to feature-length films. The episode titles include “The Crawl,” “The Turnbow Trap,” “The Rightside Up,” and others, hinting at the unfolding storyline.
